CapMed Announces Agreement With NextGen Healthcare To Offer Personal Health Record Solution

NEWTOWN, PA, May 19, 2004 – CapMed, a division of Bio-Imaging Technologies, Inc. (“Bio-Imaging”) (NASDAQ/NMS: BITI) today announced that the company has partnered with NextGen Healthcare Information Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: QSII), to co-brand and co-market the CapMed Personal Health Record (PHR)™.

The PHR will work in conjunction with NextGen® EMR to enable the secure communication of health information between patients and providers. The PHR allows patients to keep personal health data electronically on their personal computer and exchange data with their physicians and other care providers. This is accomplished using a secure USB-enabled key chain device called the “Personal HealthKey” or a CD-ROM. The PHR can capture data from a variety of sources including physicians, hospitals, imaging centers, insurers, pharmacies or labs. Examples of data that can be stored in the PHR include medications, allergies, medical images, insurance plan data and demographics. Users can share personal health data as desired through the Personal HealthKey, CD-ROM, online secure messaging or printed reports. A web-based portal is planned as an added data sharing capability.

Under the Agreement, NextGen Healthcare has been granted a license to co-brand and co-market the CapMed PHR and the Personal HealthKey. Both NextGen and CapMed are excited about this relationship as it exemplifies current objectives set forth by President Bush’s commitment to improve the nation’s use of healthcare information technology directly to the patient by extending the access, and portability of personal health information. In a recent memo, Bush envisioned a “dramatically changed system” in which patients carry their healthcare information on a key chain and can authorize a physician to access their records electronically.
