CapMed Partnership with Lancaster General Will Disseminate 110,000 CapMed Personal Health Records to Employees, Patients and Community Members With Plans to Offer First-Ever Personal HealthKey

Wilmington, DE, February 3, 2003—CapMed, A Division of Bio-Imaging Technologies, Inc., the Delaware-based developer of the Personal Health Record (PHR) and proprietary Personal HealthKeyä , today announced a partnership with Lancaster General, headquartered in Lancaster, PA, to disseminate 110,000 copies of the PHR to its employees, patients, and community.

The CapMed PHR links patients to resources customized to the Lancaster community, and enables patients to maintain their own medical records, track doctor visits and treatments, and manage diseases or chronic conditions more effectively on the privacy of their desktop computer. This will be a powerful new tool for Lancaster General, which was ranked by Solucient, Inc. as one of the 100 Top Hospitals in America for the past five years. In addition, Hospitals and Health Networks magazine, a journal of the American Hospital Association, named Lancaster General one of the nation's 100 Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems for the third year in a row.

Lancaster General was also attracted to the CapMed PHR because it has an additional portability feature—the Personal HealthKey. The HealthKey is the first portable health record tool that utilizes USB technology. Small enough to fit on a key chain, the Personal HealthKey can be "plugged in" to any computer with a USB port. Health records selected by the user can then be viewed. The CapMed Personal HealthKey can also be customized to interface and capture data from a variety of sources. "The HealthKey is an important additional benefit to the CapMed package," says Martin. "We will be developing an active program to offer this to our community."

The partnership with Lancaster General means that over 375,000 CapMed PHR’s will be in distribution—by far the largest number by any company in the personal health records market.
