New solution reflects Americans’ growing reliance on Internet resources

NEWTOWN, PA, Feb. 22, 2008 – CapMed (http://www.capmed.com), a division of Bio-Imaging Technologies (NASDAQ: BITI) and a leader in interactive personal health management solutions, today announced the launch of its award winning technology through onlinePHR™ (Online Personal Health Record).  Using a laptop, desktop or wireless device with an Internet connection, consumers will be able to access their personal health information from home, work or while traveling, and at any time of the day or night.  CapMed will showcase the new onlinePHR at HIMSS 2008, booth #3579.

With CapMed’s subscription-based onlinePHR, consumers can better manage their health information online with simple the click of a mouse and a secure ID and password. Once within onlinePHR, consumers can take advantage of multiple tools and features to manage their family’s information that include: receive reminders and alerts via email for preventive care, check drug interactions, complete risk assessments, generate common medical forms, and even import data from remote healthcare monitoring devices. Consumers also have the ability to authorize providers, family members, and caregivers to view all or part of the data within the PHR and to transfer their medical information to multiple physician practices.  The onlinePHR subscription costs $19.95 per year per subscription (up to 10 family members).  For an additional $2.95 per phone/per year, consumers can add the ability to receive alerts and reminders on their mobile phone.

“CapMed’s onlinePHR offers consumers an easy-to use, secure and accessible solution for becoming more active partners in their health and wellness,” said Wendy Angst, General Manager of CapMed. “onlinePHR brings another level of convenience and anywhere-anytime access for consumers who want to be able to manage their personal health records and the records of their families.”

onlinePHR is offered through CapMed’s web site or through the recently announced Microsoft HealthVault.  In addition to onlinePHR, CapMed will continue to offer consumers multiple options for storing personal health information including CapMed’s award winning Personal HealthKey™, a portable thumb drive on a key chain; desktopPHR™, a CD-ROM application; or the recently launched icePHR™ (In Case of Emergency PHR), which stores emergency health information online.

”Consumers are struggling to manage and make sense of vast amounts of health information generated by our fragmented healthcare system,” said Peter Neupert, corporate vice president for the Health Solutions Group at Microsoft Corp. “Built on Microsoft HealthVault, CapMed’s onlinePHR offers secure collection, storage, and access to health information, enabling people and their caregivers to make better health and wellness decisions.”

HealthVault is a free Web-based platform designed to put people in control of their health data. It helps them collect, store and share health information with family members and participating healthcare providers, and it provides people with a choice of third-party applications and devices to help them manage things such as fitness, diet and health. HealthVault also provides a privacy- and security-enhanced foundation on which a broad ecosystem of providers – from medical providers and health and wellness device manufactures to health associations – can build innovative new health and wellness management solutions to help put people in control of their and their family’s health.

Although consumers individually can obtain their own personal version of CapMed’s onlinePHR, employers, physicians, health plan providers and pharmaceutical companies can offer onlinePHR to their clients in a fully customized version.  In addition to the onlinePHR functions already mentioned, onlinePHR can include other advanced functions like gaps-in-care analysis, health coaching and additional personalized content.
“Although CapMed recognizes the value of onlinePHR, it will continue to offer consumers, health plans, employers and hospitals multiple platforms for PHR access, including the CD-ROM, Personal HealthKey, and mobile phone,” said Angst. “CapMed’s goal is to give consumers the freedom and flexibility needed to choose a platform that facilitates fast, convenient, secure and easy access to their personal health information.”

The launch of CapMed’s onlinePHR also reinforces the finding that the place Americans turn to most for answers is the Internet, according to 2007 research from Pew/Internet and American Life. A previous report from Pew indicated that those with medical problems are especially likely to go online to get answers.  Eighty percent of online Americans have turned to the Internet for medical answers, said the study.

Employers, hospitals, and payors can also customize various versions of the CapMed PHR to build brand awareness and to engage employees, patients and members. Opportunities for customization include product packaging, user interface components, links to Web-based resources and auto-launching promotional presentations.
